Vapor

All of life is
like vapor.

We love
and strive
and worship
and treasure
and serve
and waste
and suffer
and lament.

And yet,
it all ends
eventually.

To the rich,
to the poor,
to you and me.

Life is temporary,
elusive, and
uncontrollable.

All of life is
like vapor.

So we numb
the pain to
distract us
from the
discomfort of
what's coming
subsequently.

Busyness for
you and busy-
ness for me.
We're all busy.
But it's all, well,
chasing smoke.

All of life is
like vapor.

And yet, even so,
there's beauty
beyond the haze—
His name is YHWH.

He is the maker of
the skies and land.
He does right by us,
always, and is love.
He brings stillness
to welter and waste.
His name is He That Is.

All of life is
like vapor.

However, my eyes
are set on He That Is.
The sun rises and falls.
I will enjoy the beauty
He That Is provides.
While life is chasing
smoke, I chase YHWH.
